Womens Ski-Jumping Gets The Olympic Green Light

Olympic sports are getting more and more action at online betting sites with each edition of the games, both in the summer and the winter, and in the winter, there has been a lot of discussion as to whether females would be about to join their male counterparts in the ski-jumping events, one of the most exciting affairs of the Winter Olympics. For years, women have been fighting to take part in this highly dangerous event, and it appears as though they’ll get their wish at the next Winter Olympics, which will take place in 2014 in Sochi, Russia.

The battle for womens’ ski-jumping was fought right up until the beginning of the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, but in Sochi, women will be able to compete in their own edition of the event, along with men and womens’ ski halfpipe. The International Olympic Committee denied the women their request in Vancouver, stating that there weren’t enough elite competitors for it to take place. The women even took their case to the Supreme Court of Canada and were still turned down, but the road is cleared now and they’ll get the chance to prove that they can put on as good a show as the men can.

The women should be allowed to risk it all in one of the more dangerous events in the Winter Olympics, and it took a great performance at the Nordic world championships in Oslo earlier this year to show the IOC that the women could pull it off. Many have been eager to see the women perform in this event in the Olympics for a long time, and now that they have been approved, the womens’ ski-jumping event figures to be one of the most anticipated of them all when the curtain is lifted on the 2014 Games in Sochi.
